Surprisingly, I upgraded my iPhone with no hiccups from 1.1.2 out of the box to 1.1.4 today. I’ve heard horror stories but to my surprise, it was a very quick process, including retrieving all my contacts afterwards. So, what I did to have this go so smoothly? An application known as ZiPhone made the process quite simple. I would like to make several notes, both for Mac and Windows users:

  1. Make sure to plug in your iPhone into your computer to save all your data by syncing.
  2. Once you are done syncing, restore your iPhone into version 1.1.4 firmware.
  3. After your iPhone is restored, close (quit) iTunes and kill the ituneshelper process.
  4. Continue with ZiPhone.

If you’re planning an upgrade, give it a shot; it works!

For any web developer, designer, or IT guy, e-mail is more critical than a phone, snail-mail, or other forms of face-to-face communication. Though, for most of the time, we aren’t really happy with what we have. Whether you’re starting your own blog, designing a website, helping your grand-mother get e-mail, or just fed up with slow 5-minute searches through your inbox, you know how bad email solutions can really ruin your day. Try finding an email solution that lets you access email from your phone, search for messages in less than a couple seconds, or access multiple email accounts from a single point anywhere. It simply can not be found, except for one provider. For most of you, GMail is nothing new. As a matter of fact, many of you already use it as your primary e-mail. But GMail offers certain features that you may not be aware of. Nonetheless, several features must be mentioned, as they will solve many headaches for those of you that are not yet aware of all the features. (more…)

A Short Introduction

Occasionally—usually while enduring a long commute after an even longer day—I think of something that should be expressed, or, as with knowledge, something that might be useful for someone else to know. While this happens, I think ‘Quick, where’s the pen and paper?’ and then ‘Nah, this really is more worthy of my blog’ followed by ‘What??? I don’t have a blog?’ which is the end of that thought. So, in an attempt to end that final thought, I introduce my blog, which, hopefully, you will either indulge yourself with learning something you consider useful, or you might be bored and wish to read something amusing/random (otherwise, why are you here?). Regardless, here is my long over-due “official” introduction to the blogging world.

Have fun! (…and good luck?)
