Surprisingly, I upgraded my iPhone with no hiccups from 1.1.2 out of the box to 1.1.4 today. I’ve heard horror stories but to my surprise, it was a very quick process, including retrieving all my contacts afterwards. So, what I did to have this go so smoothly? An application known as ZiPhone made the process quite simple. I would like to make several notes, both for Mac and Windows users:

  1. Make sure to plug in your iPhone into your computer to save all your data by syncing.
  2. Once you are done syncing, restore your iPhone into version 1.1.4 firmware.
  3. After your iPhone is restored, close (quit) iTunes and kill the ituneshelper process.
  4. Continue with ZiPhone.

If you’re planning an upgrade, give it a shot; it works!

  2. Dude why are these showing up on twitter so late… you aren’t still running 1.1.4 are you? I am but I’m just too lazy to upgrade =P

  3. Haha 1.1.4 was a while ago. But unfortunately, I’ve installed TwitterTools for Wordpress and suddenly when I make graphical changes to old posts, it thinks that I’m re-posting… quite annoying but I’m turning it off until I am done editing old stuff :-)
